the may 2019 issue of the journal of asian studies is now available electronically at the cambridge core website, and print copies should arrive in aas members’ mailboxes soon. this issue includes a forum on “anti-colonialism in asia: the centenary of 1919,” five additional research articles, and an extensive book review section.

the full panel schedule for this year’s aas-in-asia conference, to be held in bangkok, thailand july 1-3, is now posted online.

reminder for all aas-in-asia panel participants: please register for the conference by friday, may 17 to ensure your name will be included in the print program.

many of our aas-affiliated regional conferences are preparing for their fall 2019 meetings. the following have issued calls for proposals:

midwest conference on asian affairs: conference hosted by michigan state university, october 4-6. deadline for proposals has been extended to may 24.

new york conference on asian studies: conference hosted by suny new paltz, october 4-5. deadline for proposals has been extended to may 15.

mid-atlantic region association for asian studies: conference hosted by dickinson college, october 11-13. deadline for proposals may 17.

western conference on asian studies: conference hosted by el colegio de méxico, october 18-19. deadline for proposals june 28.

southwest conference on asian studies: conference hosted by st. edward’s university, october 18-19. deadline for proposals june 30.

new england conference of the aas: conference hosted by dartmouth college, november 1-2, 2019. deadline for proposals july 15.
